As far as I’m concerned, I can’t think of a reason why anyone would want to crack open a $600 phone, but if you feel compelled to do so, I would strongly advise you to watch this video before you get started! The clip shows that poking a phone’s battery with a knife, or any other sharp object for that matter, results in explosion. The battery is a lithium-ion battery, has high energy density and can become dangerous under some conditions. So don’t poke it, and you should be fine. Assuming no one stabs you in your pocket, of course.
