Claris Diaz suffers from a rare disease that puts her in danger every time she laughs or simply giggles. The young woman was 26 years old when doctors told her she had a rare brain defect. As a child, she had suffered several strokes, but doctors failed to diagnose her then.
Claris’s disease causes irreversible blockage in the major blood vessels in the brain. This means that every time Claris laughs, she could have a fatal stroke. Fortunately, doctors were able to partially solve her blood vessels problem. “It was very difficult for me emotionally, but I managed to get my life back. Now I can laugh without fear, and that’s wonderful,” said Claris.
