How often do you look at your nails? Most of us do it every single day, still we often fail to notice the things that could actually tell us something about our health. Yep, you read that right! As it turns out, your nails say a lot about your health – you only have to know what to look for.
Take a moment to look at your fingernails. Did you notice a white half-moon shape that starts at your nail beds? If you’re like most people, then chances are this is the first time your ever paid attention to it, but it has been there for a really long time.
In fact, it’s an essential part of the nail called the “lunula,” which is the Latin word for “little moon.” It looks pretty cool, right? But this tiny part of your nail is not only there to look pretty.
It actually says a lot about your health. Moreover, in traditional Chinese medicine, lunula is perceived as being some sort of a barometer that indicates how healthy a person is.
So what do you have to look for? Well, the first thing you should pay attention to is how many lunulas are there on your fingernails. Apparently, when someone’s health declines, it results in changes to the lunula or the disappearance of it altogether.
It works the other way around too, meaning that if your health improves, more lunulas start appearing. Generally speaking, having a lunula on each of your fingernails or almost all of them indicates you have good health.
