A flight from Los Angeles-to Portland took off an hour later than scheduled after a passenger was stung by a scorpion, only a few minutes before takeoff. The plane was forced to return to the gate. The victim was immediately treated by airport doctors, but refused further medical attention. Meanwhile the cabin crew checked the entire plane to make sure there were no other scorpions onboard. It is not yet clear how the predatory arthropod got on the plane, but most likely it was “boarded” after the aircraft conducted a flight in Los Cabos, Mexico, where scorpions are common.
